Seven Syrian men seeking asylum taken to Nicosia facility

Seven Syrian men who seek asylum in Cyprus after arriving from the north on Monday evening have been taken to the reception area in Kokkinotrimithia.

The men aged 18, 19, 26, 27, 32, 36, and 40 made their way to Oroklini police station at around 10pm.

They said they travelled from Syria to Turkey and there paid the sum of €600 each to an unknown person who took them by boat to Cyprus.

From the north they were driven in a vehicle to the Larnaca – Dhekelia road from where they walked to the police station.

Their details were recorded and they were transferred to Kokkinotrimithia.
