Sarah sings Gershwin

Nicknamed ‘Lady Jazz’, singer Sarah Fenwick is leaving her eponymous jazz club in Nicosia for one night only, hitting Technopolis 20’s stage in Paphos along with musicians Dimitris Miaris, Costas Challoumas and Marios Spyrou.

On February 25, the musicians will present a jazz concert dedicated to the great jazz composer George Gershwin. The night’s leading lady will be Sarah Fenwick, a well-established musician not only on the island’s jazz scene, but the live music scene in general.

As well as hosting well-known local and foreign musicians at Sarah’s Jazz Club, Sarah has made her venue a space for emerging artists to perform and for musicians to jam.

Her career in music long predates the opening of her club in 2017. Sarah started singing professionally in Nicosia in 1992, and has since worked with many top musicians in Cyprus and abroad.

Her activities in promoting and supporting jazz in Cyprus have earned her the name ‘The voice of jazz.’

In particular, she launched and moderates the Facebook group ‘Support Jazz and Blues in Cyprus’, and founded the Cyprus Jazz and Blues Association.

Much as we appreciate her efforts in running the jazz club, it’s exciting to see Sarah take the stage alongside pianist Dimitris Miaris, double bassist Costas Challoumas – who has been part of various traditional, jazz and Latin music ensembles for more than 20 years – and drummer Marios Spyrou who has followed in his father’s footsteps of playing jazz.
