Some 800 drivers were booked for speeding over the past 24 hours, while five motorists were found to be driving under the influence of narcotics, police said on Thursday.
The police seized the driving licences of the five drivers who tested positive for drugs.
In a statement, the force said that these five cases bring the number of people caught driving under the influence of drugs to 428 since January 25.
In addition to the 802 drivers booked for speeding, police issued another 235 tickets for other traffic-related offences.
The police said it would continue its campaign to ensure maximum safety on the roads, but also appealed to individuals to consider the dangers of not abiding by the rules.
