Suspect arrested in extortion case

Larnaca police on Thursday arrested a man who had been wanted for questioning in connection with a case involving conspiracy to commit a crime and extortion.

The 32-year-old had been sought for crimes that allegedly took place on January 31.

He was wanted on suspicion of conspiring with others to extort, threatening to use physical violence, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

For the same case, police had previously arrested two other men, aged 41 and 42. They were charged in court and released until the first hearing in their case, scheduled for May 7.

The 32-year-old was expected to appear before a district court on Friday for his remand hearing.

Larnaca CID is investigating.
