Old house collapses in Nicosia, no injuries

An uninhabited old building in the heart of Nicosia partially collapsed on Wednesday morning but no one was injured.

The collapse of the house’s exterior wall and part of the interior happened at around 10pm. The debris forced the closure of Arsinois Street, causing traffic congestion in the area.

The fire service, police, and municipal officials were on the scene.

It followed the collapse, again in the old town, of an abandoned old house last week. No one was injured in that incident either.

It is believed that both incidents were caused by the heavy rain that fell this winter.
