Dhekelia road crash victim dies (update)

A 27-year-old man died in hospital on Thursday from injuries he sustained in a traffic crash in Dhekelia the night before.

Christos Gavril from Dasaki Ahnas died at around 4pm at Larnaca general hospital, police said.

Gavril suffered critical injuries earlier on Thursday after he lost control of his car on the Avgorou to Ahna road, which rolled over into a field.

The authorities were notified by a passer-by just before 3am.

He was rushed to hospital where he was treated for head wounds and internal hemorrhage.  Police determined that the 27-year-old had been in the car alone.

Police were trying to determine the circumstances of the crash and whether he had been wearing a seatbelt at the time.
