Man remanded for armed attack (updated)

A 53-year-old man was remanded in custody for seven days in connection with an armed attack and theft, police said on Friday.

A 33-year-old man reported to police that when he was driving on a country road in the Nicosia district at 11.35am on Thursday, he was stopped by four unknown men who, after threatening him with a knife, stole money and personal documents.

Evidence pointed to the involvement of the 53-year-old man, a resident of Nicosia.

Police are continuing their investigations.
