Wanted teen caught red-handed stealing motorbike

A teenager who had been wanted for theft was caught red-handed trying to steal a motorbike on Thursday evening in Limassol.

The 17-year-old was intercepted by residents at around 9.30pm when he attempted to take the motorbike, which was parked on the terrace of a house. They followed him and informed police.

Later it was discovered that a warrant was pending against the young man as he is believed to have stolen money from a shop in Germasoyia on Sunday.

The shop assistant reported that at 5am, the suspect went to the shop and told the cashier there was a fire outside the premises.

When the employee rushed outside to put out the fire the 17-year-old reportedly opened the cash register and took the money.

He is being detained while police are investigating.
