Second fatal road crash in Limassol in 2019

A 24-year-old man has died from his injuries after being involved in a road accident on Thursday evening in Limassol.

According to Limassol traffic police chief Michalis Michael the victim, who was riding a motorbike, was hit by a car driven by a 60-year-old man who attempted to turn right from Ayios Fylaxeos street into Kritis street blocking the victim’s path.

The collision occurred at around 9.30pm.

The 24-year-old was rushed to Limassol general hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

He was identified as Christos Artemiou, a food delivery man, who was reportedly working at the time of the accident.

“Police investigations are at a preliminary stage, a helmet has been found at the scene, but we cannot say for sure if it was worn,” Michael said,

This is Limassol’s second fatal road accident in 2019.

The driver of the car was not under the influence of alcohol but it is expected that an arrest warrant will be issued against him to facilitate investigations.
