Driver under influence of drugs had no licence

A driver who tested positive for a narcotest at dawn on Sunday morning was driving on a learner’s licence that had expired without insurance, police said.

At around 3.15 members of the Larnaca traffic police stopped a car driven by the 23-year-old from Pervolia.

The narcotest showed positive for cannabis use and further samples were taken for lab testing.

The driver was charged in writing and set free to appear in court at a later date.

The police also charged in writing the owner of the vehicle, a 30-year-old from Nicosia who was in the passenger seat and had allowed the younger man to drive.
