Five-day remand order for man linked to extortion claim

A five-day remand order was issued by the Limassol district court on Sunday against a 36-year-old in connection with a case of extortion.

According to a report made to police a couple of days ago by a 35-year-old and a 38-year-old, the 36-year-old had continually asked them for money to pay off €3,500 he had lent them.

According to the complainants, he had asked for a total of €40,000 over the course of a year, while they say they have paid €24,000.

Police are investigating a case of usury, swindling, extortion, demanding money with threats to steal and attack causing actual bodily harm.
