Eventful month coming up at Rialto

Believe it or not, there’s only one week left of March. April will soon be here with hopefully even warmer weather and a spring cultural agenda. Rialto Theatre has set up another eventful month with plays, concerts, festivals and screenings lined up.

April 4 will highlight the common cultural tradition of countries in the same geographic area with a concert by the Traditional Music Ensemble of Limassol Music School Marios Tokas. Traditional Greek and Cypriots songs and melodies will be presented along with popular songs from Smyrna in addition to Arabic, Bulgarian, Armenian and Turkish traditional tunes.

Later on that week, on April 7, a ballet of the famous tale of Don Quixote will be broadcast here from the Royal Opera House. This exuberant production combines all the elements of the greatest classical ballets, bursting with emotion, drama and vivid characters.

Later in the month, April 17, Cyprus Film Days will present a variety of films, screened both at Rialto and Nicosia’s Zena Palace. This year the film premieres include Girl by Lukas Dhont, Dogman by Matteo Garrone, The Guilty by Gustav Möller and Touch Me Not by Adina Pintilie. All films will be screened in their original language with English and Greek subtitles.
