First days of April already saw half average rainfall for the month

Showers during the first three days of April have already amounted to half the average rainfall for the entire month, the Meteorological Office said on Thursday.

According to preliminary data, the amount of rainfall recorded from April 1 up to 9am on April 4, came to 15.0mm, compared to 29.9mm which is the norm for the whole month.

This did not take into account the heavy rains over parts of the island during the course of Thursday afternoon.

From October 1, 2018 to April 4, average rainfall in the territories controlled by the Republic totalled 718.5mm, or 154 per cent of the long-term norm.
