Senior US counterterrorism official in Cyprus

Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the US State Department Alina Romanowski

Principal Deputy Coordinator for Counterterrorism at the US State Department Alina Romanowski was in Cyprus on Friday for contacts with Cypriot officials, the US embassy announced.

Romanowski had several meetings, the embassy said.

“The purpose of her trip was to enhance cooperation between the United States and Cyprus in the fields of combatting terrorism and promoting regional stability within the framework of the Statement of Intent, signed by the United States and the Republic of Cyprus last November,” it said.

The US, it added, reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, stability, security and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
