Four men were remanded in custody on Monday in connection with possession of over a kilo of cocaine seized by police in Paphos the previous day.
Police said two men from Nicosia, aged 40 and 44, were remanded in custody for eight days while two Limassol men, 29 and 25, were detained for five days.
Police told the court the two men from Nicosia were under surveillance on Sunday morning while driving in the Paphos district.
At some point, near Nikoklia, police officers flagged the vehicle down but the driver accelerated in a bid to escape. Police chased the vehicle whose passengers were seen throwing various objects out the window.
Officers later collected the items which included a plastic package containing 1.1 kilo of cocaine.
The suspects managed to escape but a few hours later, at around 1.40pm, the vehicle was spotted at Dhali, near Nicosia, and was intercepted.
The driver was identified as a 29-year-old man from Limassol who was being followed by a second vehicle driven by the 25-year-old.
The pair were arrested on suspicion of abetting after the fact. The two older suspects surrendered to police on Monday morning accompanied by their lawyers.
Reports said the 40-year-old was out on parole. The two men from Limassol did jail time in 2017 for drug related offences.
