Credit card spending up 35 per cent

Credit card spending rose by 35 per cent in the first three months of the year compared to 2018, JCC said on Thursday, while a monthly increase for March of €307,182,374 or 15 per cent was seen.

The use of local cards overseas saw a 6 per cent increase in March and 5 per cent for the year to date.

Foreign cars use in Cyprus increased by 15 per cent in March and by 25 per cent for the year so far.

The sectors for which local cards used in Cyprus have increased are government, supermarkets, utilities, restaurants, bars and catering while there has been a decrease in spending for clothing, shoes, accessories and in DIY household shops.
