Man arrested driving more than twice limit in Larnaca centre

A 35-year-old woman from Nicosia was stopped by the police driving at 172km/h on the Limassol to Nicosia highway, where the limit is 100.

Members of the traffic police stopped her at 12.45 on Sunday morning near Latisa.

According to police, they followed the woman for a short distance before pulling her over. An alcotest showed 75μg in her blood, almost four times the limit of 22.

The woman was charged in writing to appear in court later.

In a separate incident at around midnight members of the Larnaca traffic police stopped a car on Tasos Mitsopoulos Ave which was being driven at 123km/h as opposed to the allowed 50.

The driver was a 20-year-old from Larnaca. He was pulled over and charged in writing to appear in court at a later date.
