The Open University of Cyprus (OUC) is hosting Duncan Irschick, professor of biology at UMass Amherst, USA in the last event of the series of specialised lectures on management engineering and environmental engineering, chemical engineering and terrestrial ecosystem management. Professor Irschick, head of the Digital Life Project and the Centre for Evolutionary Materials at UMass Amherst, will organise a workshop addressing the topic ‘Learning 3D photogrammetry for the creation of accurate, beautiful 3D models of everyday objects’, which will take place on Thursday, April 18 between 6pm and 8pm at the main OUC building in Latsia (33 Giannou Kranidioti Avenue, 2220 Latsia, Nicosia).
The workshop, which is open to all, will be broadcasted live through the university’s eLearning Platform
3D photogrammetry is a new tool used in archaeology, palaeontology, architecture, the entertainment industry and in the biological sciences. It allows the use of simple cameras to create precise high-quality 3D model. The process of creating 3D models for research and education will be demonstrated at the workshop.
