Education through art is gaining an increasing following on the island with several local museums offering creative workshops and seminars for both children and adults. The Centre of Visual Arts and Research (CVAR) in Nicosia is one of these and organises ‘Saturdays at the Museum’ where children are welcomed to spend an afternoon looking, listening, learning and exploring the museum.
Each time a new subject is introduced: historic personalities, periods through creative and playful activities. For the next event, on Saturday, the emphasis falls on the art of flowers. “Inspired by the aromas and colours of spring,” the museum said “we are going to discover the flowers of Cyprus through the eyes of 19th and 20th-century travellers, and be creative with drawing and handicrafts.”
Children aged four to nine are invited to join the workshop which will last around two hours.
