Shops must close Easter Sunday and Monday, labour ministry says

General shops must remain closed on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday the labour ministry said.

In an announcement, the ministry said that according to the law, all general shops must observe the Easter shop hours between April 18 and 27 inclusive.

On Good Friday and Easter Saturday shops may remain open until 6pm, the labour ministry said.

“On Easter Sunday and Monday general shops must remain closed since these days are considered holidays according to the law,” it said.

Employees of speciality shops who will be working during these two holidays will have to be paid double per working hour, the ministry said.
