A man driving on the wrong side of the Nicosia to Limassol motorway on Wednesday evening was four times over the allowed alcohol limit.

Traffic police were notified that a car was moving on the wrong side of the road near Latsia at 11pm.

They then received a second message saying he had turned and was heading towards Limassol on the correct lane.

The car was stopped by police officers who established the driver was a 42-year-old resident of the Famagusta district.

The man had 80μg of alcohol in his blood while 22 are allowed.

He is expected to be summoned to court later.
