€2.6m in crop damage compensation approved

The payment of compensation to farmers to the tune of €2.6m was approved on Wednesday by the council of ministers following a proposal tabled by Agriculture Minister Costas Kadis.

The compensation sum will be distributed among farmers whose crops were damaged by mildew during the previous growing season. Payments are expected to begin immediately.

During the period 2018-2019, the state has supported Cyprus farmers through compensation and aid sums amounting to €117m.
