Christofias slightly better but still critical

Former president Demetris Christofias

Former president Demetris Christofias’ condition has shown slight improvement but remained critical, doctors said on Friday.

Christofias, 72, was transferred to the Nicosia general hospital’s ICU on Monday with acute respiratory problems. He has been placed on a ventilator.

The former president had been admitted to the hospital’s transplant unit last Saturday but it was decided to move him to the ICU as his condition worsened.
