Limassol abduction suspects remanded

Limassol Criminal Court

Two men, 34 and 35, were remanded in custody for seven days on Friday in connection with the abduction of a woman, the 35-year-old’s ex-partner, and possession of knives and drugs.

The men are suspected of forcibly abducting the 36-year-old while she was walking in the Amathounda area on Thursday.

The incident was reported to police by a bystander. After studying footage from a security camera, police went to the 35-year-old’s residence where they found the woman.

The footage shows a red hatchback approach the woman and two men getting out and bundling her in the backseat.

The two suspects were arrested and a search of the car used in the abduction found knives, drugs, and a precision scale.

The woman, who had visible external injuries on her body, had abandoned the suspect a few days ago because he was abusive.
