Police seize 1.7 kilos of cocaine, arrest suspect

Police said Saturday they have arrested a 30-year-old man after finding close to two kilos of cocaine at his home in the Nicosia district.

The man’s home had been placed under surveillance by the drug squad just before 10am on Friday, police said.

At some point, the suspect came out of the house and officers approached him and informed him they had a search warrant for the premises.

The suspect pushed one of the officers in a bid to escape but he was caught and placed under arrest for assault.

Officers then searched the house and found 1.7 kilos of cocaine.

The man was arrested for possession of drugs with intent to supply. He could also be facing charges relating to assault and obstruction of a police officer.
