53-year-old remanded following arrest on European warrant (updated)

A 53-year-old man was remanded in custody for five days by the Limassol District Court on Sunday after being returned to the island on Saturday following a European arrest warrant being issued against him in connection with a case of the illegal import, use and possession of drugs.

According to the police there is testimony against the 53-year-old that he was involved in a case where 63.7kg of cannabis were found in Limassol in November 2018 during a drugs squad search of a warehouse.

During the search 63 packages were found each weighing one kilo which contained cannabis in addition to one that had 700g of cannabis.

A second 53-year-old has already been tried by the criminal court in connection with the same case.
