Title deeds: don’t hold your breath just yet (web)

How many times have I read that the title deed debarcle is being addressed when in effect the rhetoric only results in a sticking plaster amendment that is overuled, unworkable, unconstitutional or just ignored by the interested parties namely developers and banks.

I’m sure all involved in the wait for deeds will be thrilled at the prospect but will government risk banks balance sheets showing them to be insolvent if the collatteral they hold against debt suddenly becomes zero.

I will not be holding my breath for a final solution. Perhaps another appeasing to the masses sticking plaster type raft of rhetoric but a universal issuance of title for all property paid for in full? I’m not so sure.
