Summer School 2019 – “Museum adventures at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation”

The Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation is organising a special and alternative Summer School for this year!

Two teams of young adventurers will be exploring the Foundation’s museums and collections – and a lot more!

The first team will explore individual, social and environmental values from different perspectives. The starting point is the coin collection and the history of Cyprus as told through the coins. The children will also explore other fundamental human values through creative games. The educational journey, highlighting cultural aspects of the Cypriot countryside, the children will get the chance to stage a unique theatrical performance about the priceless things in life.

The second team will embark on a ‘journey’ of discovery, forging their own narratives, with hidden tales from inside and outside the Museum. Like archaeologists, the children will study the collections, and gather stories, information and old and new habits, eventually forging their own tale. This journey offers a different view of the island’s physical aspects. The new tales of the little explorers will be delivered through a group song performance!

Children will be split up to the two teams according to their age.

The Summer School’s animators are all well established in their respective fields – music, theatre, and ceramics. The major animators are:

1) Stavros Lambrakis, author and professor of creative writing

2) Myrto Aristidou, visual artist/museum educator

3) Souzanna Petri, ceramicist

4) Vasiliki Anastasiou, singer/musician
