State officials would do well to treat the independent media with respect and keep a distance

State officials would do well to treat the independent media with respect and keep a distance, lest they wish to attract the attention of the EU and/or leave the impression that they do not support a free press.

The AG’s comments sound like nitpicking and it feels he is looking for a stick to beat the press with.

If anyone should be beating the press, it is us in these forums who should do so. Step aside AG and let us do our jobs. Otherwise we shall elect an official who will stop you from doing yours.

By repeating the “illegal name” is Michaelides not mimicking the unfortunate Roman centurion in Monty Python’s stoning scene?

For Michaelides too has blasphemed by publishing the forbidden word in his tweet. Maybe we should investigate if he receives any government funding.

Anyhow, the forbidden word has no “h”. The Turkish word has an “s” with a cedilla to provide the aspirate “sh” sound.
