Culture through agriculture

The Cyprus Agricultural Payments Organisation (CAPO) is organising the 3rd Agricultural Festival on July 5, 6, and 7 at Limassol’s Old Port, aiming to inform the public of the role of CAPO through cultural events, the participation of local companies, as well as to promote various Cypriot dishes and local culture.

Through this festival, locals and tourists will get acquainted with Cypriot culture and be informed about the European and national programs which CAPO subsidises. In addition, lectures and speeches will be given, while individuals who in some way contributed to the cultural heritage of Cyprus will be honoured.

Companies and local producers will have the opportunity to participate in an exhibition related to the production and marketing of agricultural products, wineries, dairies, sweetshops, and other facets of the agriculture sector.

At the same time, the three-day festival will present a rich cultural arts programme. Greek and Cypriot cinema is the focus of this year’s cultural programme, as the square of the Old Port will transform into an open-air cinema. Music is another feature of the festival: the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Limassol Municipality will perform, as will band Batukino and several other singers on the first night.

Batukino, and various Greek singers, will entertain on the second evening as well – but what sounds most enticing is a concert on July 7 paying tribute to songs from Greek cinema.
