Woman suffers second degree burns after gas leak

A 53-year-old woman is being treated in the Larnaca general hospital with second degree burns across almost half of her body after a gas explosion in the apartment building where she lives.

The explosion occurred at around 7.30pm on Friday due to a gas leak. The woman suffered from first and second degree burns to 48 per cent of her body.

Police and the fire service are investigating the exact causes of the explosion.
