Warning issued as temperature expected to reach 41C

With temperatures soaring to 41C inland today any kind of shade is welcome

With temperatures expected to reach 41C inland, the Met service has issued a yellow weather alert for Tuesday, while the forestry department is at red alert.

The yellow warning is in force from noon until 5pm.

The highest temperatures in the mountains are expected to reach 32C and 35C in coastal areas.

In the afternoon, clouds may bring rain in the Troodos area, and thunderstorms are also possible.

Temperatures will drop to 23C in most areas in the evening and 20C in the mountains.

According to the Met service, temperatures, especially inland and in the mountains, will not change during the next three days, staying above average.
