Police seize over 30 kilos of cannabis in Kolossi (Updated)

Authorities on Thursday seized over 30 kilos of cannabis in Kolossi, Limassol, and detained two men, 45 and 46.

The drugs were found in an area of Kolossi following the arrest of the two men on Wednesday on suspicion of dealing drugs.

The operation is conducted jointly by the drug squad and British bases police, who have jurisdiction.

Drug squad spokesman Stelios Sergides said the two suspects were arrested on Wednesday evening after their vehicles were intercepted.

On the 45-year-old, police found a gramme of cocaine while a search of the second suspect’s home found two rifles, an airgun, and 215 live rounds.

On Thursday, authorities searched a property in Kolossi owned by the 46-year-old where they found 34 packages containing one kilo of cannabis each.

The suspects will be brought before a court in the British bases on Friday.
