Accountant referred to trial for production of child porn

Limassol district court

A 42-year-old accountant from Limassol was on Thursday referred to trial before the criminal court in connection with the production and distribution of child pornography.

The first hearing was scheduled for January 15 next year. The man will remain in custody until then.

He faces 27 charges relating to material found in his possession involving 11 underage children, most of them between 13 and 15 while some of them are under 13. The victims are both Cypriots and foreign nationals.

Police said this was the first case concerning the production of child porn material recorded in Cyprus. The children posed naked but were not involved in any sexual acts in the videos police said.

He reportedly convinced them by offering free private lessons in his house.

The suspect refuses to cooperate with police.

The man was also arrested last September after being reported by a 15-year-old boy of sexually abusing him during private classes by forcing him to do indecent acts and making him watch porn videos.
