Four years for man convicted of drug dealing

A 39-year-old man was sentenced on Thursday to four years in prison after being found guilty of drug possession with intent to supply.

He was arrested in Peyia, Paphos last May after cannabis resin weighing around a kilo was located in his car during a search.

Following a search in his house police also found a quantity of white powder weighing 77 grammes, half a gramme of cannabis and £6,000.

The 39-year-old said the drugs were intended for his own use.

The Paphos criminal court said after announcing the sentence that deterrent penalties must be given for offences concerning drugs.
