Police investigate after post appears to show man driving with his feet  (Updated)

Police are investigating after a man posted a video of himself on social media driving with his feet on the highway.

The suspect, from Limassol, was identified by police on Friday. He gave a statement to police and was released pending a court appearance.

The video, posted on the driver’s own Facebook account, shows himself driving his truck with his feet while wearing socks with a description suggesting “let’s sleep a little”. Reports said the video was shot on the Nicosia-Limassol highway near Maroni.

The driver said in a later post that his vehicle was on a trailer truck, so he was not actually driving. However this is not supported by the video.

“It is thoughtless and dangerous driving, and he put in danger other people’s lives,” police said.
Police also posted a picture on Twitter saying: “Driving is not a game or a joke. We are obliged to be careful behind the wheel and respect not only our lives but others’ as well”.
