Man dies in motorbike crash early Sunday morning

A 24-year-old from Ayia Marina Chrysochous in the Paphos region died early on Sunday morning after a traffic accident.

According to the police, the accident happened at 4.45 when Evagoras Demetriou was driving his motorbike on the Polis Chrysochous-Ayia Marina road when under circumstances still being investigated he lost control of the bike, mounting the pavement, hitting bushes and overturning.

He was reportedly not wearing a helmet.

Demetriou was taken to A&E at the Polis hospital and transferred to Paphos general where his death was later announced.

Members of the police force visited the scene to establish what happened.

The same stretch of road has seen a number of fatal accidents in the past.
