A 24-year-old food delivery man died on Friday night in Nicosia after a car driven by a drunk driver three times over the limit hit his motorcycle and abandoned the scene of the accident, police said.

The hit-and-run occurred on Larnaca and John Kennedy Avenues in Pallouriotissa at 7:50pm.

The driver of the car, 31, left the scene but was later found by police in the Geri area, after officers received a tip-off on his whereabouts.

During a breathalyser test, the driver’s blood alcohol content registered at 108 mg, while his final blood alcohol test came in at 79mg, which was more than three times over the limit of 22mg.

The 31-year-old was arrested.

The motorcyclist, King Prestly Saha from Bangladesh, was taken to Nicosia General, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
