Drunk driver causes accident on Limassol-Paphos highway

A 46-year-old man was arrested Saturday evening after causing a traffic accident, allegedly while drunk driving, and injuring another man aged 66 who was travelling with a 50-year-old passenger.

The accident happened on the Limassol-Paphos highway when the two vehicles collided.

According to police, the 66-year-old was slightly injured in the collision and was taken by ambulance to Paphos hospital, where after receiving first aid, he was discharged.

Police said the 46-year-old showed signs of being drunk and a breathalyser test showed him to be more than three times over the limit.

He was brought to Paphos police station and asked to undergo a blood alcohol test but refused, attacking and abusing police, they said, and was arrested.
