Police check trucks and buses, 12 drivers booked, three cautioned

Police ran an inspection campaign all day Saturday on trucks, and on Sunday were inspecting buses, they said.

The two days of checks were part of a campaign launched by the European Traffic Police Network (Tispol), of which Cyprus is a member.

On Saturday, officer conducted checks on 27 trucks in the Nicosia area. Seven drivers were booked for various offences ranging from bald tyres to broken vehicle lights.

On Sunday, bus inspections were carried out, also in Nicosia. From the 16 buses checked, five were ticketed for various traffic violations, and three were cautioned, police said.
