Man with counterfeit money arrested

Police arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with the possession and distribution of fake banknotes on Monday afternoon in the Larnaca district. He was remanded for three days on Tuesday morning.

Police officers who were told a man in possession of counterfeit money was visiting premises in the area spotted a car with the 52-year-old inside parked in a remote area.

During a search, they found 19 €50 banknotes, all of which bore the same serial number.

A warrant of arrest was issued and the suspect was detained to facilitate further investigations.
