Cyprus fell to a 2-1 defeat by the Czech Republic in Wednesday's friendly in Larnaca

Cyprus were beaten 2-1 by the Czech Republic in an international friendly at the AEK Arena in Larnaca on Wednesday night.

The home side went behind to Tomas Holes’ early 13th minute strike, before equalising through Loizos Loizou after 32 minutes.

It was the visitors who had the last laugh though, with Vladimir Darida’s 43rd minute penalty proving to be the winner.

Cyprus play away in Luxembourg in Nations League Group C1 on Saturday afternoon.
