Paphos man arrested for threatening people with a gun

Paphos police arrested a 52-year-old man on Friday night after he allegedly threatened a group of people with a pistol.

Police said they detained the suspect after an 18-year-old man claimed he had pulled out a pistol and threatened him and some friends while they were hanging around in the street at 11.40pm.

The 18-year-old and his friends left the area and reported the matter to the authorities.

Officers arrested the man later on and a search of his home found a hunting shotgun, which was seized. The pistol was not found, police said.

The case is being investigated by the Panayia police station.
