Police search for two people after Covid check got violent

Police are investigating an attack against members of the force on Saturday night who were checking that decrees issued to control the spread of coronavirus were being enforced.

When police visited a restaurant in the Paphos market they set about reporting the owner as he was not wearing a mask.

In the discussion that followed the owner’s 30-year-old son swore at and shoved the police officers, as a result of which he was arrested.

During the arrest two other people attempted to release the suspect from the police’s grasp. Efforts are now underway to identify these two people.
