More than 25% of Cypriots concerned about internet security

More than one in four Cypriots aged between 16 and 74, 28 per cent of the population, claimed to have avoided providing personal information to social or professional networking services in 2019 due to security concerns.

According to Eurostat, the EU average was a little lower, 25 per cent.

Across the EU member states, the highest share of people who avoided providing personal information to social or professional networking services was recorded in France (40 per cent), followed closely by the Netherlands (39 per cent), Finland (37 per cent) and Slovakia and Sweden (each 36 per cent).

A smaller share of the population had refrained from providing such information in Lithuania (6 per cent), Bulgaria and Hungary (both 8 per cent), Croatia and Romania (both 9 per cent).
