Missing swimmer found dead (updated)

Empty beaches as tourist arrivals plunge around the world.

A 67-year-old man who went missing after going swimming in the Lady’s Mile area near Limassol on Tuesday morning was found unconscious late in the afternoon west of Limassol port.

He was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An air and sea search was launched after he was reported missing and his personal effects were found on the beach.

The joint rescue coordination centre (JRCC) said it had activated its search and rescue plan Nearchos after being notified at 3.05pm that a swimmer had gone missing.
