The police cybersecurity unit has warned over a recent scam perpetrated via Facebook’s Messenger which can lead to users losing control over their account.
In an announcement on Thursday, the unit said that victims received messages from people in their friends list – sharing a link to YouTube.
After clicking the link, users reported losing control over their account. The potential security breach is particularly nefarious as many users are likely to trust links sent by a person in their friends list.
Police have warned social media users to be extra cautious.
