Men remanded after attempting to hold up kiosk

Police Car 02

Two men suspected of trying to rob a kiosk early on Thursday morning have been remanded for six days by the Limassol district court.

Shortly after 2am, a man wearing a hood and a mask entered a kiosk in Limassol and, armed with a pistol, demanded money from the two employees.

When the employees refused to hand over the cash the perpetrator fled.

An hour later police officers spotted two people near the kiosk, one of whom fitted the description of the armed man.

The two men, 28 and 29, who were moving around suspiciously near a vehicle, were stopped and searched.

On the ground under the vehicle the officers found a pistol, two hoods, gloves as well as other items.

The 29-year-old allegedly admitted to the attempted robbery and both were arrested.
