Coronavirus: Nicosia venue fined €8,000 for allowing wedding party to dance (Updated)

In the last 24 hours, police booked 15 businesses and 11 individuals during 1,019 checks for violations of Covid protocols.

A police spokesman told CNA that 409 inspections were carried out in Nicosia where six people and three premises were booked, while in Limassol out of 132 inspections , two individuals and three premises were booked.

In Larnaca, 207 inspections were carried out with two individuals booked and two businesses. Paphos saw 147 inspections with seven premises booked, while in the Famagusta area, 66 inspections were carried out without any bookings, and in the Morphou area, there were 58 checks with one individual booked.

Port and marine police carried out a total of 56 checks without any violations being found.

Police released  more details later on Sunday saying that the owner of a venue in Nicosia was fined €8,000 for allowing patrons to dance during a wedding.

Also, in five premises in Paphos, fines of €1,000 each were issued because customers were standing a a 

The remaining complaints of premises mainly concerned the non-use of masks by owners and employees.

In two cases in Limassol, fines of €4,000 and €1,500 for the same offence.
