The Larnaca district court remanded two men aged 40 and 31 for one day on Monday.

They were arrested on Sunday in connection with a fight that broke out at the end of a football match between Alki Oroklini and Onisilos at the Famagusta stadium in Larnaca last Wednesday.

One other person, a 33-year-old man, who was arrested after a police officer was injured during the fight is expected to appear in court on December 4.

According to police, the scuffle started between the staff of the two teams, while five or six people inside the stadium made a move to attack Alki fans.

An off-duty police officer who was at the stadium tried to stop the fight, but was threatened and attacked by the 33-year-old man who was arrested on the same day.

He was remanded for two days and released pending his appearance before the court.

The officer sustained a head injury for which he was treated at Larnaca hospital.
